Aztec Gold is a color modifier that causes the dog to express vibrant yellow pigment throughout the body.
This modifier causes all of the hair and skin (including nails but not including internal tissues or mucous membranes) a vibrant shade of Marigold. Most other markings are affected by this gene. Exceptions to this include Berserker, Felidae, Zealot, and Piebald (or other white markings). |

Oracle is dilution gene that only displays phenotypically in homozygotes (OrOr). It gives the hair coat a glossy sheen and silken texture. This marking blankets the entire coat in white (with the exception of Berserker).
Occasionally, other markings can occasionally peak through in shades of Aztec Gold. The genetic marker for this phenomenon is unmapped at this time. It does appear to be inherited. The industry term for this subtle shading is Greedy. True Oracles (those with no gold shading) tend to be preferred, although the standard does not support this. An Oracle dog will always have striking blue eyes. The gene is not linked to hearing or vision problems. |
Felidae is a very complex marking with many modifiers. It causes feline like patterning across the entire body of the dog.
It's genetic makeup is not extensively understood but it is known to cause abnormal development of pigment as well as vision and hearing problems in homozygotes. Double Felidae is the only color that is disqualified from the show ring. |
